Between that and how ATV handled swapping video formats when content matching, I came back to Shield.įortunately for me, my Shield issue got resolved while I was away in Apple land. My AppleTV handles ATMOS just fine, but it screwed up the audio channels and volume on non-ATMOS content. For me, who also has an ATMOS soundbar, I had to keep ATMOS disabled until I wanted to watch an ATMOS capable video. AppleTV handles it like shit, but it does work. One of the reasons I came back to Shield was ATMOS. I ended up going the other way I was much happier with the Shield than AppleTV. I was trying out AppleTV to replace Shield due to some issues I was having. Why can't you get ATMOS through Apple TV?
